Background

The 26th August 2017 marks the 50th Anniversary of motorcycle speed legend Burt Munro’s remarkable achievement on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, USA. On that day, Burt claimed the World Record for a Class S-A 1000cc motorcycle with an average speed of 184.087mph. (North run 184.710mph and South run 183.463mph).  It’s a record that stands to this day.

The E Hayes and Sons name and iconic Invercargill hardware store has long been associated with Burt Munro and his achievements and we are proudly joining a weekend of celebrations by presenting this exciting CHARITY AUCTION to raise funds for Hospice Southland.
